Claudio Ternicier, the Mexican Under Secretary of Agriculture, with a committee made up by Rodrigo Castanon, the Executive Director of the Pork Producers Trade Association of Chile (Asprocer), and Miguel Canala-Echeverria, the General Manager of ASOEX, made a successful visit to Mexico which included meetings with the high authorities of the Mexican National Service of Health, Food Safety, and Food and Agriculture (Senasica), as well as local entrepreneurs, as well as being managed by the Chile’s Agricultural Attaché in Mexico, Mr. Alberto Nino de Zepeda.
One of the key activities was the meeting between Under Secretary Ternicier and the Senior Director of Senasica, MVZ Enrique Sanchez Cruz, who acknowledged the advances observed in the rehabilitation process of pork, poultry, and beef slaughterhouses in Chile and who reaffirmed the commitment to make all the efforts necessary to set the implementation of the animal and plant health electronic certification during 2016.
Another place that was visited by the group were the official intra and extra port inspection facilities in Puerto de Manzanillo, accompanied by the General Director of Animal and Plant Inspection from Senasica, Mr. Arturo Calderon. In the meeting with technicians, he made an analysis of the statistics of the reception of Chilean products, noticing a significant decrease in Chilean packages that do not comply with the requirements established by Mexican law, which regulate the importation of agriculture and livestock products. Mr Castanon stated that, “our close relationship with Mexico based on respect, trust, and proactive work has allowed us to enjoy a low rate of errors regarding the demands the Senasica certification establishes”.
